QUAD
Derby City Council has been working with local civic, development and arts
partners to develop a new build visual arts and media centre, QUAD, in Derby
city centre. QUAD opened to the public in Autumn 2008.
In 2002 Derby City Council appointed Peter Mount of DPA as QUAD’s Development
Director. To date Peter and the DPA team have successfully:
• led the capital fundraising, putting the £11.4 million required
in place, in time
• acted as client co-ordinator on design and construction. Construction
commenced in late 2006.
• promoted and enabled the successful integration of the two arts partners
into the new QUAD organisation
• helped recruit the new board and QUAD’s Chief Executive
• developed structures for management, programming and governance, and
preparations for opening and operating the new building
In addition to housing cinemas, galleries and studios, QUAD will act as a
focal point for the region's artists and creative groups, as a new focal point
for the Market Square, and as an emblem of and catalyst for the city centre’s
regeneration.
DPA has been active with Derby City Council developing cultural policy and
projects since 1998
