Making sense of Olympic preparations and legacy
DPA advises Thames Gateway London Partnership on Olympics and culture. TGLP
and DPA will continue to promote occasional meetings of the Thames Gateway
Cultural Forum, a meeting space for East and South East London’s cultural
practitioners about all things Olympic.
Helping boroughs to work together effectively:
DPA devised the Host Boroughs (Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets,
Waltham Forest) Joint Cultural Framework –
Transforming the Landscape. DPA has since been working with the Gateway
Boroughs (Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, Havering, Lewisham, Redbridge) to
develop a joint culture, education and regeneration approach to the Olympics.
Devising projects
DPA developed a number of legacy projects for London
2012 including the London Olympic Institute and the World Festival for
Youth Culture.
Advising University
of East London (where David Powell is a Visiting Professor in Cultural
Policy) on developing ways of planning for legacy and evaluating the impact
of the 2012 project on the cultural and wider communities.
